1. Local Businesses

"The team of great people at FASTSIGNS in Santa Rosa has been a god send to our campaign. Cindy, Dan, Samantha and the rest of the crew have been wonderful to work with and they have repeatedly beat their own timetables and exceeded our expectations - their "can do" attitude and sensitivity to our every need says a lot about what is right about America in general and California in particular - you simply cannot do better than this crew!" says Dave Tully-Smith, candidate for Governor of California.

  2. What a Novel Idea

Nothing could possibly send a stronger message than for the majority of California voters who feel disenfranchised and trivialized by expensive slick Madison Avenue campaigns full of platitudes and talking points punctuated by competitive mud-slinging and character assassination than for those voters to rise up and vote for candidates who live by core nonpartisan values, have demonstrated a lifelong passion for California and its unique heritage, have chosen a life of service to others and who try to earn your vote on the basis of character, integrity and the merits of their ideas with proposals for fresh long term solutions that promote the well-being of current and future Californians.

  3. Happy Easter Sunday

Christians all over the world are joyful on this Easter Sunday – what a great and glorious day to reflect upon all of our blessings including the greatest blessing imaginable – God’s gift of eternal life through Christ our Lord.

Dana and I celebrated Easter Sunday in a fashion similar to nearly every other Sunday – with our friendly congregation at Sebastopol Christian Church. We began with our 9 am Adult Sunday School Class led by Rick Glanville in which we have been studying from the LifeGuide booklet titled “Jesus’ Final Week”, a very timely series of 8 studies suggested by Patti LeDonne. Our class has terrific participation from many classmates who are legitimate scholars of the Holy Bible including two of our church elders and others who have studied in Bible College. We are a little behind schedule which often happens due to the inevitable tension between class time limits and the classmates’ uniform desire for meaningful discussion and sharing. Today we finished up the Thursday of Holy Week: The Last Supper, as described in Matthew 26:17-30. As usual discussion was lively as it related to communion time during the service this Easter Sunday.

Before the 10:30 service began, we had some time for friendly visiting regarding our campaign progress and milestones including getting our web site up this past week and fun photos of “the Guys in the 3rd-4th Grade Class” and the beautiful women who keep “the candidate” on his toes including Kitty Briggs, Sue Beckstead and, of course, Dana -- thanks to Gene Naber for getting their photo.

The 10:30 Contemporary Service led by Sara Warne went smoothly – the choir exhibited their great enthusiasm and warmth beaming out to the congregation. During the greeting, we visited our many friends and I met some people from Huntington Beach visiting family for Easter. Our Pastor, Jesse Bradley, did his usual stellar job by delivering an inspired sermon “Because He Lives” drawn from I Corinthians 15:1-58. As usual Jesse tied the message to real life inspired by his 3 year old son Joel’s word of the week, “HUMUNGOUS”. After the service, we visited other friends and then headed out into a windy wet day bringing us additional much needed rain.

All in all, another great sabbath day of renewal and joy celebrated with our many wonderful friends in Christ at Sebastopol Christian Church.

  4. Easter Egg Hunt in Sebastopol

The Sebastopol Kiwanis Club deserves our generous support for putting on a wonderful community event – many participants wanted to know if they could make donations and I am sure they would be gratefully received by the Sebastopol Kiwanis Club.

We should ever be thankful to our volunteer community service clubs who generously support our communities and events like today’s Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Sebastopol Kiwanis Club.

While strolling aroung the hunting fields, we also noticed another contribution from the Rotary Club whose motto “Service Above Self” says it all – the Sebastopol Rotary Club and the many other local service organizations also deserve our generous support.

  5. Letter to Friends and Family

I sent the following email to all my friends and family...

I am asking everyone in California to spend a few minutes on our web site:

    http://www.davetullysmith.org

I am on the ballot for the June 8th Primary election for California Governor.

I have also attached a call to action document that summarizes a recent speech of mine.  I am working with a team of expert advisors in each of the critically important NON_PARTISAN areas of JOBS, BUDGET, SCHOOLS, WATER and, of course, HEALTHCARE which I know are the most vitally important to the California renewal - other issues will be addressed in due course as well.

If you can find it in your heart to email your California contacts and ask them to check out our website and, if they are interested in my candidacy, to email their contacts to do the same, then we have a chance of proving that we can elect a regular guy with real credentials who is not a billionaire or a career politician/lawyer ... All I am asking is for people to realize they have an alternative to "business as usual" by supporting my candidacy and they have the chance to achieve real, long term non-partisan progress.

  6. Poppies, Golden Poppies

Today, one of Dave's patients named Arlene saw Dave's logo and recited the
following poem that she learned many years ago as a student at Glen Park
    Grammar School in San Francisco:

Poppies, golden poppies gleaming in the sun,
closing up at evening when the day is done.
Pride of California, flower of our state,
growing from the hillside to the Golden Gate !

  7. Position on Jobs in California

Expertise: Working class upbringing and long time small business employer in both healthcare and technology.

Crisis: California has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. In some parts of the Central Valley the rate is nearly 40 percent. California has one of the worst business climates – especially for small businesses that generate the majority of California’s jobs.

Ideas: There are reasons to be optimistic. California has a diverse and talented work force and excellent educational opportunities. We need to simplify regulation, reduce red tape, provide aggressive investment credits and provide targeted tax relief.

Results: These aggressive actions are the best ways to bring new permanent high quality private sector jobs in California, which is uniquely qualified to capitalize in the areas of emerging high technologies in resource creation and modernization.
